This is a wine that conquers: the nose shows a mix of fresh fruit, floral notes and spices, all well defined. On the palate, the tannins are smooth and round, almost velvety and with a pleasant balance between freshness and flavor. Very elegant and at the same time complex wine, obtained with a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot grapes, strictly harvested by hand and obtained from over 30-year-old vines planted on deep gravels, coarse sands and limestone. This soil, not very rich and draining, favors the deep rooting of the vines and the concentration of the grapes.
The wine is then aged in oak barrels for 12 months and is able to hold itself in excellent shape for over 20 years.
The owner of Chateau La Gurgue is Claire Villars Lurton, a dynamic lady in love with her vineyard with organic and biodynamic certification. Year after year, he works with the utmost finesse, to reveal in his wine, the exceptional terroir that constitutes the vineyard of Château LA GURGUE.
