Moscato Rosa is a vine with ancient origins that owes its name to the intense aroma of rose, a characteristic aroma that can be found both in berries and in wine. The vineyards grow about 250 meters, with south-south-west exposure on clayey-calcareous soils and in a ventilated area, essential to avoid Botrytis on the berries. It is neither a passito nor a late harvest, but the grape itself has a high natural sugar residue and is harvested when it is ripe; of course the collection period depends on the vintage.
The limited production makes Moscato Rosa a precious wine, the yield is notably stingy, in good years about thirty quintals are harvested per hectare. As the name of the vine already reveals, this wine has an intense bouquet of roses, cinnamon, cloves, and berries. Even in the mouth it is very spicy, and despite the sweetness it has a good acidity which does not make it cloying, leaving the mouth very clean.
Very good pairing with a berry tart or with a dark chocolate tart.
