Excellent sauternes that has a straw yellow color with greenish reflections. The nose is very expressive and complex, there are aromas of citrus (candied orange, lime) and exotic fruits (mango, pineapple) with notes of white peach and apricot. On the palate it has a large scale with aromas of candied orange and spices (cinnamon, star anise). The long and delicate finish with a harsh note gives it a pleasant tension. Good overall balance for this wine which is at the same time lively and delicate. Often called "modern Sauternes", Château Bastor-Lamontagne promotes freshness and harmony. With a lower concentration than some of its peers, it can even be a "casual" aperitif or accompany a first course thanks to its beautiful freshness.
In the vineyard of 52 hectares of Chateau Bastor Lamontagne the grapes grown are Semillon (80%), Sauvignon Blanc (17%) and Muscadelle (3%). All the vines are planted in the municipality of Preignac, in Sauternes, not far from the Suduiraut castle, with a large percentage of vines that "touch" the vineyards of Suduiraut. Most of the considerable vineyard is located in a single large block of vines, which is not always the case in Bordeaux. The terroir consists of sandy, calcareous, gravelly and clayey soils. On average, the vines are 37 years old and planted with a density of 7000 vines per hectare.
