Saint Marcellin is a rather creamy cheese, made from raw cow's milk and owes its name to the country of origin: a small village in the French Alps, precisely in L'Isère, Auvergne-Rhone-Alps region, and it is produced exclusively in a territory defined by the specification.

Perfume and taste are slightly "pungent", evolving especially with the progress of maturation and is almost always proposed in a nice terracotta that allows you to put it in the oven for about ten minutes if you prefer to serve it hot and melting over a good piece of homemade bread.
